“Sometimes when someone bites their tongue really hard, it hurts a lot!”
– A student, in response to our lead teacher telling someone they needed to “bite their tongue real hard” about an inappropriate subject.
My goodness isn’t that the truth?! This wonderful kiddo took the phrase literally, but his response works for both the literal and figurative! Biting our tongue is H-A-R-D, hard. It hurts! And we usually whine about it afterwards. The beauty of grace is that it heals both our physical and emotional wounds when we chomp down hard, accidentally or on purpose. I learn so much grace daily with my students, both in giving and receiving.
