Short Stack Series: Rattled

R A T T L E D // The rattling of dried leaves in the winds always makes me think of the way a broken heart might sound amongst it’s cage of rib bones. When our hearts get broken, we feel rattled, shaken, stirred up. Things change so quickly, even if we see them coming. We know the seasons change but when it is ‘suddenly’ winter, we seem surprised, as if it doesn’t come every single year. And while hurt isn’t as predictable as seasonal changes, there are times we know what is coming. Yet we are still rattled like dead leaves shivering in the chilly winter wind. Sometimes, when we’re rattled, all we can do is wait for the season to change; thankfully, we know eventually, it WILL change.
