National Siblings Day

sibling day

I love holidays, especially ones that mean something. National Fondue Day might be close to my foodie heart, but days that celebrate family and friendship are my favorites. Today is national Sibling(s) Day! This day was instated to honor a deceased brother and sister, and I’ll use it to be thankful my siblings are all still around!

Biologically, I have three sisters. We haven’t always seen eye to eye, nor have we always even liked each other, but at the end of the day we are still sisters, and I love them dearly.

However, I’ve gained many ‘adopted’ siblings over the course of my lifetime. One just so happens to be family; my cousin Justin is quite possibly my favorite human ever. I’m not sure how we aren’t siblings, since we could be twins, but he’s so very special to me. All my other ‘siblings’ are unrelated, but still mean so much to me. I even have a matching tattoo with Lauren, a Harry Potter quote that means “as good as [family]”. I included my work ‘siblings’ because we truly function as siblings; I’m definitely the baby, Amber has middle child syndrome, and we both tease Jeff mercilessly!! I adore going to work every day in part just to see these folks!

Overall, I’ve known most of these people for over half my life, and I know how blessed I am to have them in my corner. Thanks for being the best siblings a gal could ask for. ❀
